Prof. Hisham is a Consultant and Chair of Fetal Medicine Services at NMC and serves as Faculty and Chair of the Outreach Committee at the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology (ISUOG). He previously held esteemed roles, including Chair of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at UAE University, Chief of the Fetal Medicine Unit at Tawam Hospital, and President of the Emirates Perinatal Society. Prof. Hisham’s academic journey includes a Master’s in Health Professions Education from Maastricht University, a Fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine from the University of Toronto, and membership and fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists. With expertise in fetal abnormalities, intrauterine growth restriction, multiple pregnancies, and advanced fetal therapy, Prof. Hisham has made significant clinical and research contributions. He established the first Fetal Medicine Units in the UAE and Sudan, led the first intrauterine fetal blood transfusion in the UAE, and created a diploma program in advanced diagnostic ultrasound. His research includes pioneering work on placental drug transport and fetal responses to maternal conditions, earning him multiple awards for excellence in teaching and research. Recognized as a leader in maternal-fetal medicine, Prof. Hisham continues to advance the field through clinical innovation, research, and education. His groundbreaking work has left an indelible mark on fetal medicine and medical education in the UAE and beyond.
