Dr. Gareth J. Waring is a Consultant in Fetal Medicine and Obstetrics, currently practicing at SEHA Corniche Hospital in Abu Dhabi, UAE. He qualified in medicine from the University of Sheffield in 2007 and was appointed as a consultant in 2020. He holds subspecialist accreditation in Maternal and Fetal Medicine from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and is a member of several professional bodies, including ISUOG, RCOG, the British Maternal and Fetal Medicine Society, and the Fetal Medicine Foundation. Dr. Waring has extensive experience across fetal medicine and high-risk obstetrics. He previously served as Clinical Lead for Fetal Medicine at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he ran the regional fetal cardiology clinic and managed the full spectrum of fetal medicine pathology. His expertise includes fetal echocardiography, management of fetal arrhythmias, invasive diagnostic procedures such as chorionic villous sampling and amniocentesis, and advanced therapeutic interventions including intrauterine transfusion and fetal shunt placement. He is also a tertiary-level obstetrician with experience in complex deliveries, external cephalic version, and cervical cerclage procedures. Alongside his clinical work, Dr. Waring has a strong academic and research profile. He has held academic appointments at Newcastle University and Teesside University and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in fetal medicine, obstetrics, and maternal–fetal research. His special interests include fetal growth restriction, preterm birth, and complex fetal surgical conditions. His contributions have been recognized through multiple awards and research grants, and he continues to contribute to education and scholarship through editorial board membership, peer review, and authorship of specialist clinical chapters.
