Dr. Azza Abd El Moneim Attia Mohamed is a European board-certified Consultant in Medical Genetics with more than two decades of experience in clinical, molecular, and chromosomal genetics. She specializes in dysmorphology and rare genetic disorders, with advanced expertise in diagnostic genetic testing, next-generation sequencing (NGS) data interpretation, phenotype–genotype correlation, clinical reporting, and genetic counseling. Her work spans clinical service delivery, academic teaching, research, and the development of large-scale genomic medicine programs across France, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates. Dr. Attia received her MBBCh in Medicine and Surgery from Ain Shams University, Cairo, followed by extensive postgraduate training in France, including multiple diplomas and a Diploma of Specialty (DIS) in medical, clinical, chromosomal, and molecular genetics from Bordeaux University. She also holds master’s degrees in biological and medical sciences, basic medical sciences with a focus on cell biology and stem cells, and completed an MD in basic medical sciences. She further strengthened her academic profile with diplomas in fetal medicine and biostatistics, and obtained European Board Certification as a Consultant in Medical Genetics in 2018. Currently, Dr. Attia serves as Head of Clinical Genomics at M42 in the UAE and as a Clinical Geneticist within the G42 Clinical Genomics Department. She also holds academic appointments as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at UAE University and as an Associate Professor at Ain Shams University. Her professional responsibilities include establishing and overseeing genetic testing programs, managing the full genetic testing workflow from sample collection to clinical reporting, and providing specialized patient counseling. In parallel, she has made substantial contributions to medical education, research supervision, guideline development, and peer-reviewed scientific publishing, with numerous publications in international journals.
