Dr. Taiseer Maarouf Mohammed Afifi is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Al-Azhar University, Faculty of Medicine for Girls, Cairo, Egypt. He obtained his Bachelor of Medical Science with an Excellent grade in 1990, followed by a Master’s degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1995 focusing on combined hysteroscopy and laparoscopy in infertility diagnosis, and a Medical Doctorate in 2001 on ultrasonographic and Doppler studies in postmenopausal high-risk patients. Dr. Afifi has held progressive academic and clinical positions at Al-Azhar University, including Resident, Assistant Clinical Lecturer, Lecturer and Consultant, Assistant Professor, and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 2012. In 2024, he was appointed Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Faculty of Medicine for Girls. His professional expertise includes infertility and assisted reproductive technology, obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound and Doppler, diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy and laparoscopy, and major and minor obstetric and gynecological surgeries. Actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, Dr. Afifi has served as a director and tutor in multiple workshops covering ultrasonography, laparoscopy, basic surgical skills, and management of postpartum hemorrhage. He is a member of several professional societies in gynecologic endoscopy and fertility and serves as a Board Member of the Professional Diploma of Reproductive Medicine and Surgery (DIRMAS). He has published extensively in national and international journals and has supervised numerous Master’s and MD theses in obstetrics and gynecology.
