Dr Zahir Osman Eltahir Babiker MBBS, MSc, DLSHTM, MRCP(UK), FRCPath, FRCP Lond, FRCP Edin, DTM&H is a resourceful consultant physician in infectious diseases and tropical medicine at the division of tropical and infectious diseases at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Dr Babiker is dually certified in infectious diseases and medical microbiology & virology and has outstanding clinical, educational, research, and leadership experience. He is a fellow of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of London and Edinburgh, a fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (UK), and an alumnus of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where he earned a master’s degree in public health and a diploma in tropical medicine. Dr Babiker is the chair of the tropical & infectious diseases division, chair of antimicrobial stewardship program, and director of the infectious diseases fellowship program at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City. Dr Babiker is also an adjunct professor at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Khalifa University. Dr Babiker’s main research interests are antimicrobial stewardship, digital health, tropical medicine & migrants’ health, emerging and re-emerging infections, HIV, viral hepatitis, and infections in immunocompromised individuals.
