Group, the Egyptian Health Council. Professor Attia is a member of the founding board and the codirector, educational supervisor, faculty, and examiner in the professional Diploma of Reproductive Medicine & Surgery (DIRMAS). This diploma is the first in the field of infertility and ARTs in Egypt and the Arab World. Prof. Attia has a leading role in combating FGM/FGC and GBV by driving advocacy, education, law reform, building partnerships with governmental and international agencies, developing anti-FGM
curricula, training healthcare professionals, and empowering girls and women throughout Egypt. Prof. Attia work in medical education and training is outstanding. As an Assistant then Secretary General of the Egyptian Fellowship (2007–2017) and a President of the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Board (2013-2021), he championed modernization and nationwide expansion of medical education, growing medical
specialties in the Egyptian Fellowship from 27 to 61 and ensuring high-quality physician training all over Egypt. Prof. Attia has pioneered advancing EBM training and practice in Egypt by establishing training programs, conducting more than 60 workshops, publishing 11 educational research articles on EBM, leading national committees to develop clinical practice guidelines, thereby elevating the quality, consistency, and scientific rigor of women’s healthcare nationwide. Professor Attia has a wide experience in research as a publisher of 2 Cochrane Systematic Reviews, 33 researches, founder and first editor-in-chief of Kasr Al-Aini Journal of obstetrics & gynaecology and founding author of Open Access Journal of Clinical Trials among other editorial boards memberships. In recognition of his contribution in the advancement of women’s health and defending women’s
rights, Prof. Attia Has been Awarded the Honorary Fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, UK (Fellowships honoris causa) in 2025.
